30 Days Until 30 Detox – Week 1

Wow, here I am exactly one month away from my 30th birthday. I am trying not to let my fears and insecurities take over my mind. No, I am not getting old. No, my life is not over. Instead, I am focusing on a new year. A new opportunity for me to figure this thing called life out. A new chance for me to be a better wife, a better mother, a better friend. I am focusing on the positive. I am enough. I have what it takes. My husband loves me. My children love me. I am loved. I am beautiful. Say it with me, I am one of a kind. I love me. If you are like me, and you have things you want to change about yourself, that is okay. It is okay to want to improve, feel better, look better, be better. I am going to take you with me on this journey to redefine who I am over the next 30 days. I am excited and scared all at the same time.

Week One – Love Your Body. Whew, I think that is a hard one. After having my second child last year, my body has certainly gone through some major changes. A lot of them I love, some of them I do not. Honestly, I think social media puts a lot of pressure on women to “snap back” after having children and it does not happen easy for everyone. I have decided to get off of the complaining sofa and put the work in to get the body I want. Now, this is a lifestyle change. I can’t work out and eat horrible, I will never see the results I truly want. I am going to detox my body this week and start working out. As a busy working mom of two kids, I will have to get strategic and creative with my workouts. Yes I am tired, but I want to love my body more than I want to sleep. Point. Blank. Period.

Here’s what I’m doing:

  1. Meal Prep and Meal Plan – if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. YouTube and Pinterest are my best friends. I love to follow Marriage and Motherhood on YouTube. She does a weekly Sunday setup. I also really like Gradys Mom, she does a weekly grocery haul and meal plan on her channel. Check those two out for ideas. I typically grocery shop and meal prep on Monday because that works for my family. My husband is home to help with the kids so I can go to the grocery store alone and get exactly what I need.
  2. Get Moving – I am working out five days a week for at least 30 minutes. Now, I probably will only work out for 30 minutes in the beginning, and I may cry the entire time. My hope is that I will begin to love working out again!! I don’t have time for a gym membership so I am going to get active in my garage after I put my kids to bed. Do whatever makes sense for you. Just do it.
  3. No Sodas – Drink More Water. I love infused waters so I will infuse my water with mint, lemon, cucumber, raspberries, strawberries, and ginger. Not all at the same time. Right now I am just drinking mint infused water. I want to try different combinations so I don’t get bored. I also love tea, so I may have freshly brewed green tea. I typically don’t sweeten it, but if I do it is with local honey from my Farmer’s Market. Again, Pinterest is my bestie, you can get lots of ideas and recipes there.
